“The small business roller coaster is still a daily ride, but at least we’re finding ways to enjoy it.”

WHAT DO YOU DO AND WHAT LED YOU TO THIS CAREER?

I wear many hats, but in my career I'm co-founder and CEO of Little West. I spent several years in the fashion biz — which I loved — but I always felt my true calling was in the food industry, inspiring people to live healthier lives through moderation, conscious eating, and making approachable great tasting food.

In 2013 my husband and I had the incredible opportunity to open a tiny 200 square foot juice shop in LA called Clover Juice. We opened it up with money we'd set aside for our wedding, along with some money loaned to us from friends and family. We built the juice bar for ourselves and to inspire health in our community, and never realized at that time just how big our community could and would grow. Through many highs and so many lows (which I’ll gladly share if you want to hear them!) we never compromised on two things: the quality of our products and the support we bring to each and every partnership.

We rebranded Clover to Little West in 2018 and what started as our tiny 200 square foot juice shop in LA became California’s premier juice company, partnering with hotel groups, high-end grocery chains, tech companies, and some of the best coffee and restaurant brands in the country. Most recently, and in the middle of the worldwide pandemic, we had the honor of launching as Whole Foods’ cold-pressed juice partner. The small business roller coaster is still a daily ride, but at least we’re finding ways to enjoy it.

What I’ve come to learn is that what I do is survive. By surrounding myself with a devoted team and an inspiring support system, I find ways to thrive, and I try to always enjoy the ride.

WHAT ARE THE NAMES AND AGES OF YOUR CHILDREN?

West, 5, and, Wolf, 1.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CAREER ACHIEVEMENT THUS FAR?

My greatest career achievement has been surviving eight years in one of the most competitive industries in the US, for having grace through the process, and for being selected as the juice partner for each of our cherished customers.

WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF BEING A MOTHER?

The unconditional love, the constant humbling moments, and especially the sense of accomplishment knowing that I'm truly a bad-ass because I created two little human lives.

AND WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING?

Having uncomfortable conversations until they stop being uncomfortable. Disciplining with compassion and remaining a united front with my husband when we discipline. Also, having patience in virtual school with our 5 year old!

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR SOMEONE NEW TO YOUR INDUSTRY?

First, if it feels right, it's right. Keep moving forward and don't overthink it. Second, ask for help! We are all in this together and more often than not, if you reach out, you'll find a massive support system wanting to help you succeed.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR A NEW MOTHER?

Enjoy the ride! Be patient with yourself and know that everything is temporary.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU? DO YOU HAVE ANY EXCITING PROJECTS COMING UP?

I'm in the midst of creating two insanely exciting new products for Little West. I'm thrilled to be putting my creative hat on in 2021!
