Meet the Talented Mama Behind Our New Print

When it was time to dream up a fun new print that evoked the spirit of Fashion Mamas, we knew exactly who to turn to: FMLA member Chloe Beckerman Hardt of Dat Print Doe. The inspiring textile designer created our Kids Fashion Fair button print after all, and during that collaboration process we admired her ability to make it all look so easy. Given that Chloe's clearly a natural and we're constantly in awe of her skills, we sat down with the sweet mama to learn more about her path to success. Read on, and catch Chloe's FM group illo on our Facebook page, our homepage, and more!

Tell us about your career journey — what led you to where you are today?

I studied Textile & Surface Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City and then worked designing Beckerman — a playful & whimsical Womens Contemporary clothing line — with my sisters, Cailli and Sam of @beckermanblog. It was so fun!

When I moved to Los Angeles, I worked for about six years creating textile designs for Juicy Couture. After our daughter, Summer, was born I began my freelance designer gig, which is where I am today!

What is your earliest childhood memory of creating art?

At a friend's house for a playdate around preschool age, instigating a coloring party on his basement walls! I don't think I got invited back to that house ever again.

What are some of the coolest projects you've ever been commissioned for?

Custom wallpaper commissions are so cool! I love creating a totally unique space through wallpaper and seeing it surround me and come to life.

Your sisters have such a refreshingly unique point of view when it comes to style. Do you ever look to them for input on your designs?

Always! I am forever asking them for their input because they have the freshest point of view and are always totally current on fashion. I love to collaborate with them. Also, I creep their absolutely amazing Pinterest boards for inspiration all the time. My sisters are the best!

What would be your dream project and who would it be for?

I would love to illustrate a children's book, especially now that I'm reading so many of them!

What inspired your latest print for Fashion Mamas?

That feeling of having the awesome support of a group of women who get you. And our power in numbers!

What's your top advice for new graphic designers trying to make it?

Do what you love and never stop talking about it to everyone. And always be kind.

Does your little one inspire your work in any way?

Yes! I design a lot of children's prints, so I'm always asking myself "would Summer want to wear this?"

Do you have any exciting projects coming up that you care to share?

There are so many exciting projects coming up!! And I share them as they come out on my Instagram @datprintdoe

What is your design process for commissions and how can someone book you?

I can work from your design inspiration to create print ready artwork, or I can create the mood boards/direction and design coordinating prints. I'd love to hear from you! You can contact me at DatPrintDoe@gmail.com.
